JSTI | Deputy Chief Engineer Wins President’s Award

      As a native of Jiangsu, Deputy Chief Engineer of the JSTI Testing and Research Institute Zhang Yufeng has always cherished upbringing in a culturally rich and historically renowned part of China. Since 2003, he has been engaged in the field of infrastructure health monitoring. With more than ten years of experience, he has always demonstrated a dedication to technological innovation and application and his understanding of the industry and market.
      In 2017, JSTI Group set up the Structure Monitoring Center of the Testing and Research Institute. Focusing on major river basins across the country, the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Bohai Bay, and the central cities, JSTI specifically provides high quality infrastructure health monitoring services by setting up the goal of raising the level of scientific management of infrastructure facilities and adopting the data analysis of infrastructure operation safety and health protection as a core technology.


      Since the Sutong Yangtze River Bridge was equipped with a health monitoring system for the first time in 2003, Deputy Chief Engineer Zhang Yufeng led the team to continuously improve and promote the structural safety monitoring technology. After more than ten years of hard work, the achievements have amazed a succession of government administrators and academic counterparts, bringing the application of structural safety monitoring technology national and global recognition. So far, this technology has been successfully applied to many world-class projects such as the Runyang Bridge, Jiangyin Bridge, Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, and Ma’anshan Yangtze River Bridge among others, allowing clients to truly understand the convenience brought by technological innovation to project management.

      The quality of Zhang Yufeng’s work achievements have received numerous accolades and awards from the industry. In 2017, the bridge innovation team, led by Zhang Yufeng was recognized as a “Leading Team in the Key Fields of the Ministry of Transport" . Personally, he has received the Second Class National S&T Progress Award, the Second Class National Technological Invention Award, two Jiangsu S&T Progress Awards, one Outstanding S&T Award of the China Highway & Transportation Society along with more than ten provincial-level and ministry-level awards whilst having published over forty papers.
