Eptisa has become a key player in the transformation and modernization of the main cities in India, being an active player in some of the most important projects included in the "Smart City Mission".
      Under this "banner", in 2016 the Government of India announced an ambitious innovation strategy by which 100 cities in the country would be converted into smart cities.
      Among all the cities participating in the Smart City Mission, Eptisa has been selected as Project Manager Consultant (PMC) to provide technical assistance to five of these cities: Jaipur, Udaipur, Indore, Patna and Kakinada. Three of these cities have been included in the Top 10 ranking recently published by the Indian Government to choose the "best performing cities" within the National Mission.

   
      Eptisa actively participates in the transformation of these cities into Smart Cities with the technical assistance provided in all aspects related to the execution of the projects, especially the overall management, planning and structuring of subprojects, the bidding process and selection of contractors, as well as in the supervision, monitoring and evaluation of the results of each project.
      Smart Mobility, solar energy generation, smart roads or improvements in the water networks are some of the axes of the Smart City Mission, whose first results are expected to be seen along this year.
      In the case of the city of Jaipur, for instance, it can be highlighted as flagship initiatives the transformation of Gandhi Nagar Railway Station, providing it with a smart parking system, the construction of an underground parking at Ramganj Bazaar or the installation of a solar system at the roof of the University of Rajasthan.
      All these cases are developed in the historical centres of cities, which gives them a uniqueness and attractiveness to regenerate these highly densified urban areas, as well as to improve their infrastructures and sustainability.
      Luis Frauca, Director for Innovation & Technology of Eptisa, has emphasized that "the biggest challenge of these projects is the transformation of urban areas that already exist in very complex local environments, applying criteria of sustainability, efficiency and technological innovation". "It is also about maintaining a balance between short-term and long-term results, ensuring that technological innovation is not at the expense of distorting urban ecosystems that have their own dynamics and where many people live and feelthis urban reality as their own".
      Thanks to these projects, the global positioning of Eptisa has been strengthened as well as its role as a reliable and high quality service provider in the field of sustainable urban regeneration and the application of technology to cities.
